Excellent Concept, Not Well Built October 27, 2009 Mary229 (Wisconsin) I bought this swing because of the plug-in feature. I will say that the swing has durability. It has lasted me through two children now. And I do like the music that it plays as well as the two different levels of volume for the music. But it has some flaws.
#1 It does not recline very far, so it's not great for a very young child who is unable sit up well yet.
#2 There is not a noticeable difference in the 6 speeds.
#3 How well it swings definitely depends on the weight of the child. For an 8 lb. baby who can't sit up well, it seems to go too fast. But the motor can't seem to handle a 17 lb. baby who does want to swing faster. Then it goes slow or stops. It says that the weight limit is 25 lbs., but I really don't think it can handle more than 20 lbs. maximum.
#4 The music seems to start out soft but gradually get louder.
In spite of the aforementioned flaws though, both of my children have loved this swing! All-in-all it was well worth the $80 price tag. I'm just disappointed that my 6 month old daughter is outgrowing it already.
Sanity-Saver March 14, 2009 A. Dayley (All Over, USA) I received this swing as a gift after my son was born. It took him a month or two to get interested, but around the same time his colic and acid reflux kicked in, this became our life-saver. I am soooo grateful my friend thought to get me a plug-in swing as opposed to battery-operated because we would have dropped TONS of money replacing the batteries on this thing for how much we used it.
I'll admit it, there were some nights this was the ONLY way my son would stay asleep. I would lay on the couch to be near him and make sure he was safe, but some nights there was no other way we would have gotten any sleep at all.
My complaints about the swing are few:
-I wish it reclined more. He slept in it a lot, anyway, but I would have felt better about it if it had leaned back more.
-The mobile is incredibly dull. He still liked the swing once we got through colic, but would get bored quickly and I think it would have freed me up a little more if there had been more interesting things to look at.
Other than that, we rarely had a problem with the swing stopping itself because something hung down, we just made sure to tuck blankets in tight around him. I liked the colors; the swing sat in our living room so the muted colors were far preferable to the bright stuff of other baby products. The music was fine, we were never bothered by it, and I don't think he really cared one way or the other. The speeds don't vary a LOT, but I'm positive my baby didn't care at all, swinging is swinging, right? We didn't have a high chair when we first started him on solids, so we used the swing at feeding time and it worked great. We got tons of use out of this for a good six months.
I have used my sister-in-law's baby swing before, a papasan that can swing side to side, but my son didn't seem to care one way or the other which way he swung. This swing is a good price, it saves you money in the long run, and it gets the job done. I would happily use it again, although I wish this same concept came in more styles. It would be nice if it reclined more.
Great Function, Okay Looks January 6, 2009 J. Penar (South Carolina, USA) The songs are nice. I'm glad there is volume control. And I am over the moon that it doesn't require batteries! I've used it with two babies now, and it was a winner with both. Just wish it has more attractive to the adult eye. But the kids seemed fine with it.
